Wearable Art from Stubbs Art Studio

Wearable Art

Art is held sacred by many people and how one chooses to display works of art varies depending on the person. Some like to have paintings professionally framed and hung on walls in a home while others choose to store artwork in safe places for their own private viewing. Another way to display unique works of art that is becoming more popular these days is wearable art. Unlike a canvas or sculpture that has to sit stationary in a home or gallery wearable art allows the image to be displayed on popular clothing such as sports shirts, tee shirts and fleece pullovers and outerwear when people are out and about.

The idea of wearable art is not new but the technology now available to artists and graphic designers allows for incredibly detailed reproductions on fine apparel that creates an entirely new piece of art. When art mixes with apparel and retail a whole new market is opened up to the original drawing or painting and the work of art now has a virtually unlimited audience when one chooses to wear such apparel during the day or evening.

For years artists have played with the idea of paint on clothing and have created wild and exciting designs that make an outfit stand out. However the wearable art market is a careful blend between fine art reproductions and high quality clothing that seeks to find the balance between expression and startling. A tee shirt splashed with vibrant paint colors may be a work of art but only for a select few who could get away with wearing such a design. But when clothing and apparel are painstakingly designed with embroidered images from fine art paintings the look is more professional and has the added appeal of being seen as more than a logo traditionally placed on the upper left pocket of the shirt or sweatshirt much like the Polo Ralph Lauren horse and polo player.

Wearable art is a good way to tastefully promote works of art in a way that is not overbearing or too commercial. Shock value and in your face type colors and graphics can actually turn a lot of people off and no matter how good the art may be the presentation is what keeps it from being viewed seriously. With aesthetically pleasing embroidered images that are strategically placed on sports shirts, tee shirts and outerwear you effectively give the image a worthy platform for the art itself to be represented properly.
